Frameless Flat Glass Roof Lights

We manufacture our frameless flat roof light products in house, enabling us to accommodate your specific size and specification requirements

Our standard roof lights are manufactured using a 6mm clear toughed safety glass on the outside, with a 6mm low’e’ coated glass on the inside of the property along with a 20mm black thermal spacer bar to give a high level of energy efficiency, the outer pane has an overhang of 150mm on each edge, with  a  black silicone seal smear to conceal the frame work bellow  giving your project a smart tidy finish

As these are made to order quickly in house, it allows the specification to be adapted to your needs if you need a specific size, a different overhang, a different spacer bar thickness, if you need it to be triple glazed or you require a specific glass thickness or type such as self cleaning, or a tinted finish we can make it for you

The units are sealed using both a butyle primary sealant and a dowsil  3363 silicone sealant complying to European technical approval 13/0359 tested according to en15434 and manufactured to bs1279part2/3 resistant to ultraviolet and ozone

Due to the strength of the sealant it allows the roof lights to be installed with anywhere between a 0-60 degree angle

Below we have a sample of our prices based on our standard specification of 6mm clear toughened glass – 20mm black warm edge spacer- 6 mm low emission toughened glass (the sizes below are based on the external size measurement, the internal measurement will be 300mm smaller due to the over hang )

FAQ

The sealed unit itself isn’t A,B, or C rated. It has a centerpane u-value, which when we know the frame manufacturer and profile, we use to ensure you achieve an overall (W.E.R.) rating of A,B or C. Just like your fridge or washing machine A is better, then B and then lastly C is the minimum requirement on a new window.

With glass and spacerbar technology more efficient than ever at keeping heat in, the outer pane of glass remains a lot colder than the internal pane. The result is that some mornings during the months of approx. September to April condensation can form on the outside of the outside pane of glass.  Just like on your car windows in the mornings, its actually a good sign that your new energy efficient windows are doing their job, and keeping the heat in.

Lead naturally darkens with age, and can take on various colours during the process. The white formation on the lead is led carbonate, and generally happens when the lead is in contact with heavy amounts of rain water/condensation.

As the energy efficiency of windows has got better, it is more likely to cause condensation on the outer pane and the lead. The problem is much more apparent to installations done between September/ April due to the increased condesation/rain which contains a higher amount of carbon than the normal water you clean your windows with.

We recomend a polymer coated lead such as Antique finish ( a dark finish to replicate aged lead) or Platinum finish (more silver giving the appearance of younger lead), which help to combat these problems

If your lead has turned white it is important to clean the windows regularly until this stops as it can stain the glass, and the frames.

Yes a delivery service is available.

No we don’t personally install. However, we know plenty of people that do.

Again, we only supply the glass products. That way we can concentrate on what we do best. But we can always recomend a frame supplier, and we can still provide the glass for this for you.
